I plant some in the ground and pot some up. We have rich black sandy dirt slightly acidic and always moist. They get morning and afternoon sun but are shaded from evening sun. When I dug them this fall they had all doubled in size. The konjak is softball size so maybe still to small but the typhonium venosum bloom every year and are about 5" wide. The venosum each had 7 offsets that were 2" wide or less.I store them dry in the cool crawl space . To get a head start I pot mine a month early and keep them warm and moist but not wet. This break's the dormancy. I'll treat the konjak the same as they seem to grow the same. Since they need a long dormant period, I am pretty sure they would go dormant over the winter even as a house plant. Have survived in winter as low as 5°F. Long periods that cold would probably not be tolerated. That kept the smell to a minimum. I would think this is hardy enough for the garden in the UK, isn't it? It survives to about -28C. Controlling moisture during dormancy is probably the biggest issue, really well-drained soil and planting corms on their side can help. It might be worth planting some of your babies out in the garden and seeing how they do. The corm is about 6/7 inches across and has a thick spike of 5 inches or so, which it hasn't done before. I have kept a couple of dozen 'babies' from previous years. I have kept them in our spare bedroom where it's cool, but it's still not potted up yet as I've previously done it around May. Don't know how we'll cope with the smell as don't think it will be warm enough to put it outside for a couple of months yet.
